Future Governance
This page will be expanded as the governance framework develops. The information below describes the general direction for FliteGrid governance. Specific structures, voting mechanisms, and timelines will be published as they are finalized.
Vision
FliteGrid is built by its community, and over time, the community should have a meaningful role in how the network is governed. The long-term vision is a governance structure that gives sensor operators, token holders, and other stakeholders a voice in the decisions that affect the network's direction.
Principles
The governance framework will be guided by several principles:
Transparency. Decisions that affect the network should be made openly, with clear reasoning and public documentation.
Participation. Community members who contribute to the network (through sensor operation, data contribution, and other means) should have a role in governance proportional to their involvement.
Practicality. Governance should be effective, not just symbolic. The goal is a system that makes good decisions efficiently, not one that creates bureaucracy for its own sake.
Progressive decentralization. Governance responsibility will shift toward the community over time as the network matures, the community grows, and the tools and processes for decentralized decision-making are developed and tested.
What's Coming
As FliteGrid moves through its roadmap phases, governance capabilities will expand. This may include:
Formal voting on improvement proposals
Community election of governance roles or committees
Token-weighted decision-making on key network parameters
Structured processes for hardware manufacturer approval
Community input on hex value adjustments and reward formula changes
The specifics will be developed collaboratively with the community and published here as they're finalized.
